The developer of the Lumafit app (referred to as “we,” “us,” “our”) is Mikk Salu, an individual developer. Contact for privacy questions: [email protected].

This Privacy Policy describes what data Lumafit (the “App”) handles, how it is used and stored, and what rights you have as a user. Lumafit is designed to be privacy-first: there is no account, and your workouts, preferences and settings are stored on your device.

By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. What data we handle

1.1 Workouts and preferences (stored on your device). Lumafit is a manual fitness tracker. The workouts you log — such as activity type, duration, distance, notes, estimated calories and an optional location tag — are stored locally in an on-device database. Your preferences (units, daily goal, body weight, accent color, light/dark, reminder settings) are stored in the App’s local storage. This information stays on your device and is not uploaded to us.

1.2 Location (requested only in context). The App requests access to your device’s location only when you choose to use a location feature — tagging where a workout happened, or finding nearby gyms and parks on a map.

  • Location access is requested through the iOS system prompt at the moment you use the feature — never on launch, and foreground only.
  • You can allow it “While Using the App” or decline it; the rest of the App works normally either way.
  • You can change this permission at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Lumafit.

1.3 Notifications (activity reminders). On first launch, the App asks permission to send notifications. These are used to deliver activity reminders. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; the App runs fine if you decline. You can turn notifications off at any time via iOS Settings → Notifications → Lumafit or within the App’s own settings.

1.4 Region detection. To set sensible defaults (such as units of measurement), the App detects your approximate region from your IP address. This is used for display defaults only; we do not use it to build a profile of you, and you can override the resulting settings at any time.

1.5 Data we do not collect. We do not require an account, and we do not collect: health data via HealthKit, your photos, your contacts, or payment information (the App is free and does not include in-app purchases as of the publication of this policy). If the data handled by future versions of the App changes, we will update this Policy and notify users within the App.

2. How we use data

We use data solely to:

  • provide the App’s core functionality (logging workouts, calculating totals, streaks and goals, all on your device);
  • show nearby places on a map and tag a workout’s location when you ask it to;
  • deliver the activity reminders you’ve consented to;
  • set sensible regional defaults such as units;
  • respond to your support requests.

We do not sell your personal data, do not use it for targeted advertising, and do not include third-party advertising SDKs.

3. Third-party services

Lumafit keeps external services to a minimum. The map and nearby-places feature is powered by OpenStreetMap; when you open the map, requests are made to its tile and data servers to display map imagery. Those requests are subject to the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s own privacy policy.

Service Purpose When it is used
OpenStreetMap Map display & nearby gyms/parks Only when you open the map feature

We do not share your workout history, preferences or personal profile with any third party, because that data stays on your device.

4. Data storage and security

  • Your workouts are stored in a local database on your device, and your preferences in the App’s local storage.
  • Because this data is on-device, it is protected by your device’s own security (passcode, biometrics, and iOS data protection).
  • We apply reasonable measures in the App to keep your data handled safely, and we design features to avoid sending your personal data off the device.

5. Your rights

Because your data lives on your device, you remain in direct control of it. You can at any time: edit or delete individual workouts; withdraw location or notification permission via iOS settings; and use Profile → Delete all data to erase all workouts, preferences and caches from the device. Deleting the App also removes its on-device data.

For any questions about your data, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time, and no later than 30 days.

6. Children

The App is not intended for individuals under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can address it.

7. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonably available means. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this document.
